This is the third blog in a series about the benefits of Lymph Drainage Therapy (LDT).
The holiday season is a joyous time filled with cherished traditions, get-togethers, gift giving, and delicious treats. But if you’re like most, you probably ate and drank a little too much, which can put a strain on your liver and make you feel a little sluggish, moody, or depressed. As we begin the new year, it’s a great time to discuss the benefits of lymph drainage therapy of the liver.
How Does the Liver Work?
The liver is the largest glandular organ in the body and performs multiple critical functions, including detoxifying the blood of toxic substances and storing glucose, vitamins, and iron. When I attended a cadaver course, I was amazed at the size of the liver–about three pounds for the average adult. No wonder it is important to take care of it! I practiced some lymph drainage on the subject’s liver. However, it is only effective on the living!

Benefits of Lymph Drainage Therapy of the Liver
How can a manual therapist get to your liver? It may sound like it would be deep and uncomfortable. To the contrary, it feels good and has so many benefits. About 70% of the lymph vessels are found just below the skin. Through gentle massage, a trained manual therapist can help stimulate the lymph system, and restore the healthy function of your liver. The many benefits of lymph drainage therapy of the liver include:
- reducing brain fog
- increasing energy
- improving vision
- improving range of motion in the right shoulder
- improving liver functioning (detoxification and elimination)
LDT of the Liver and Common Disorders and Diseases
For those with the following conditions, LDT of the liver can provide life-changing benefits:
- Lyme disease
- post-chemotherapy and radiation
- Epstein-Barre Virus
- Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
- general malaise
- depression
- anxiety
These are just some of the many examples of how I have used lymph drainage therapy of the liver to help my clients live healthier, more productive lives.

Lymph Drainage Therapy and Massage in NH
Because lymph drainage therapy of the liver is so beneficial to my clients, I try to incorporate it into all of my sessions. As explained in my previous blog posts, LDT can benefit many other areas of the body. If you would like to try LDT at your next visit, include a brief note in the memo section when you schedule an appointment. If you are out of the area, visit the Chikly Institute to find an LDT practitioner near you.
If you have experienced the benefits of lymph drainage therapy of the liver, I’d love to hear about it. Please share your experience in the comments section.
